Paper Trail Guide

About Paper Trail Guide

This site exists because most relocation guides on the open web are recycled, outdated, or written by people who never actually went through the process. We do the opposite.

How we research

Every guide starts from the primary government source — the actual immigration department, embassy, or tax authority. We then cross-check against recent applicant reports and consular practice. If a fee, timeline, or requirement can't be verified against an official source, it doesn't make the article.

How we write

Articles are drafted with AI assistance, then put through a human editorial pass. The editor's job is to remove generic AI fluff, inject the specifics that only experience reveals ("what they don't tell you"), and make sure each guide actually solves the reader's problem rather than just describing it.

How we keep it current

Visa and immigration rules change. Every article carries a clear last-updated date, and we re-verify high-traffic guides at least every six months. If you find something out of date, please let us know — see the contact information below.

How we make money

This site is supported by a combination of display advertising, affiliate links to relocation services we'd recommend regardless of commission, and digital products (checklists, application templates). Affiliate links never influence editorial recommendations.
